This policy explains what information the THE1 LEAGUE app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address — required to sign in using a passwordless email link.
- Phone number — optional, provided only if you choose to add it to your player profile.
Player registration information
- Your name, team, and jersey number, provided when you register as a player in the app.
League data
- Game statistics recorded during league games (points, rebounds, assists, fouls, three-pointers), your MVPoints balances, official reward grants, and prize redemption records (including pickup status).
Device and usage data
- If analytics are enabled, we collect basic device and usage information (device type, operating system version, app screens viewed, and crash reports) to help us fix problems and improve the app.
We do not collect payment card information. MVPoints are a league reward currency with no cash value and cannot be purchased or cashed out.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- Sign you in and link your account to your player identity (team and jersey number);
- Show schedules, standings, statistics, full-game videos, and your personal MVPoints and rewards;
- Operate prize redemptions, including pickup verification on game days;
- Contact you about league matters (for example, schedule changes), using the email address or optional phone number you provided;
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of league records and prevent misuse of player accounts and redemptions.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and the app does not carry third-party ad tracking.
- Your email address and phone number are never shown publicly in the app or on our website. Public views show only team names, jersey numbers, and game statistics.
4. Third-party links
The app links out to services we use for league video and social content, including YouTube (full-game videos), Instagram (weekly Top 5 plays), and Xiaohongshu. When you open those links, you leave the app and are covered by the privacy policy of that service. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those services.
5. Data storage and security
App data is stored using Firebase services provided by Google, with access restricted by account sign-in and database security rules. Player accounts can only access league data and their own records; game data can be modified only by authorized league scorers and administrators. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
6. Retention and deletion
You may delete your account at any time:
- In the app, from your account settings (when available); or
- By emailing us at info@the1sports.ca from the email address on your account.
When an account is deleted, we remove your sign-in identity and contact information (email address and phone number). Historical game statistics and league records are retained in anonymized form (team and jersey number only, without contact details), because they form part of the league's official season records.
7. Adults only
THE1 is an adult basketball league. The app is intended for league players and followers who are 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date, and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
